An assessment of specific measurable securities or investment factors, such as cost of capital, value of assets; and projections of sales, costs, earnings, and profits.    The statistical study of historic returns, price volatility and price correlations of different assets in order to construct optimal portfolios. QA relies heavily on mathematical models such as the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) and the dividend discount model (DDM). More generally, quantative analysis is any statistical analysis based on numerical data, as opposed to qualitative analysis, which is based on values and opinions.
